Technical Writing | Solution Design Document
Recently, I have been busy with multiple projects initiated at work. Writing project documents is always a time-consuming task. Therefore, I thought of sharing and showcasing the thinking behind some of the key documents I have been writing for our software projects.
I plan to start a mini-series here on each document type. This week, I will use a Service Cloud Implementation example to showcase the Solution Design Document and what are some of the areas to focus on when writing a similar document.
There are many scenarios where we would need a Solution Design Document (SDD). Essentially, the document covers critical aspects of the project, including technical aspects, to ensure that we have the following at the end:
- A roadmap for the successful implementation of Salesforce Service Cloud
- - A super WOW factor for some customers at the end of the project
The Solution Design Document is a living document and, at the end of the project, works as a point of reference.
To write a Solution Design Document effectively, be sure to cover these 5 key areas:
